Introduction:

The Department of Electrical Engineering, at Alsalama College of Science and Technology, is one of the most prestigious departments of learning in the field of Electrical Engineering in Sudan. The graduates of the Department are not only able to serve in Sudan but also represent the country in various industries and academic institutions abroad. The Department aspires that its students be better prepared to handle modern-life challenges therefore it is continuously striving to improve quality of education and research.

Degree awarded:

Alsalama College of Science and Technology Bachelor degree in electrical engineering specialty control and electrical power after the termination of the credit hours distributed to ten semesters by the study plan. It must be based on the student's research project for a period of two semesters in the final year of his studies.

Vision:

The Electrical Engineering program at Alsalama College will become nationally recognized for graduating students that have experienced putting theory into practice and are also capable of succeeding in advanced studies.

Mission:

The mission of the Electrical Engineering major is to provide students with a supportive environment that facilitates learning to solve problems in electrical. The Electrical Engineering major are committed to excellence in student learning. Graduates of the majors will be problem solvers, able to apply engineering principles to electrical system. The faculty and staff of both majors use their background in teaching, researches, and industries to prepare students to be successful as they move into the workforce or graduate school.

Objectives:

In support of the objectives of the Electrical Engineering major will prepare our students to be proficient at putting theory into practice, capable of lifelong learning, and be aware of the social, ethical, and environmental issues associated with their professional activities. To ensure these goals, our specific expected accomplishments of our graduates during the first several years following graduation for the major are:

  1. To be successful analysing, designing, or testing electrical systems.
  2. To be a productive member of a team.
  3. To be assuming leadership roles in their career.
  4. To be contributing in professional and civic service.
  5. To be pursuing lifelong learning.

Educational outcomes:

The outcomes necessary to achieve our program objectives for the Electrical Engineering majors are that our students will have:

  1. An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering.
  2. An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
  3. An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
  4. An ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams.
  5. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems.
  6. An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.
  7. An ability to communicate effectively.
  8. The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context.
  9. A recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning.
  10. A knowledge of contemporary issues.
  11. An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
  12. An ability to model, analyse, simulate, and design circuits and systems.
  13. An ability to use computer and/or laboratory tools in the design of circuits and systems.
  14. An ability to build, test, and debug prototype circuits and systems and analyze results.
  15. An ability to use the principles of design to solve open-ended engineering problems.

Career opportunities:

Qualifies a graduate of the Electrical Engineering Department (control - power) to be technical engineers familiar with modern techniques in their respective fields to be able to deal with the networks in the following areas:

  1. The control and power generation Electrical in thermal power plants and gas and steam and hydroelectric stations.
  2. Transfer electrical energy from the power plants to the national networks and the control and monitoring of these networks.
  3. Work in distribution networks.
  4. Participation in the control and design and implementation of various thermal system with specialists in this field.
  5. Work in the field of telecommunications and computer and networks.
  6. Prepares electrical engineering graduate program to break into the industrial area (such as telecommunications, power plants and various industries, basic industries and military industries generating systems) and independent professionals (such as consulting, contracting, manufacturing) and work in government agencies.
  7. You can use university degree in electrical engineering to join the self-employed or pursue graduate studies in the engineering field.

Conditions of acceptance:

The acceptance is subjected to the terms of acceptance students of the General Public Administration according to conditions of acceptance BA Electrical Engineering students in higher education institutions and foreign civil.

The requirement of the admission to B.Sc. (honors) Electrical Engineering is the pass in the following seven subjects:
